Is Hemp Legal or is Hemp Illegal? The Big Quandary!
Many of us would say, is hemp legal? Of course hemp is legal, right? Look at all the products on the market now with the re-emergence of the cannabis hemp plant. We’d think being able to eat it, drink it, wear it, drive with it, live in it, import millions & millions of dollars of hemp products from outside our country, mainly from China and Canada; we’d think our farmers could grow plenty of hemp in our baron American farm communities. So, why is hemp illegal still? What are we missing here, why is hemp illegal still, on the Federal Level?
Even though Hemp is not marijuana and could never be the schedule 1 drug, it was classified as this in the early 1900’s and there is still much confusion around the hemp plant’s legality today. Currently, at least 28 states have approved hemp to grow in small parcels to be studied by the Agricultural Department for its multi-versatile benefits and values. This seems very strange because, we’ve already seen by the multi-millions dollars spent on hemp products we import every year, hemp is beneficial and valuable. Does the thought ‘why can’t our US farmers grow hemp in America’ come to mind, especially since many farmers are being subsidized by the government ‘not to grow any crops’?
At this point we need to question everything, question our political arena, question our Federal Government and demand our United States farmers grow hemp freely to bring our country back to sustainability on every level!
Economics around Hemp imports: In the first four months of 2015, Canada exported $34 million worth of hemp seeds and hemp oil. This is well on the way to bettering the $48 million exported last year and far ahead of the $12 million exported in 2011.
Businesses are gearing up to capitalize on the growth. To meet increasing demand for hemp foods, Manitoba-based Hemp Oil Canada is building a $14-million processing plant to triple its production capacity.
In June, U.S.-based Compass Diversified Holdings bought Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods for $133 million. The buyout came after Manitoba Harvest, which sells hemp-based foods, saw a 500 per cent growth in sales over the past five years. http://tinyurl.com/gqo5b6b
Perhaps there is something bigger going on levels we are not privy too. Perhaps, the Federal Government of the US which is pretty much a run by big corporate conglomerates, already have the paper, plastic, textiles, oil and pharmaceutical industries locked into the corporation of the US. This appears to be what was the underlying reason for the demise of the Cannabis culture back in the early 1900’s and why hemp is illegal to grow in our famished country today!
We are in pivotal times in our country – We need to act now to change the forecast of our future.
Imagine the world we will have when Cannabis Hemp & (MMJ) Medical Marijuana is a reality. Getting informed and sharing is the first step. Getting involved in some way is the next step! And when others ask, is hemp legal? You will be able to answer that question for them and educate them on one of the fastest growing crops of the future.
